made using Hand Dyed with Rust by Sue Warburton

I have been promising to show you work made using a piece from the Hand Dyed with Rust collection and here it is.Sue Warburton Now Is The Time made using rust fabric from t r a c y f o x

The fabric has become the center panel as you can see, bordered with gorgeous African fabric that works perfectly.

So what’s the story I hear you ask, well…

Last March at the 2nd Annual Patchwork Quilting and Craft Fair in Oldham, the very talented Sue Warburton bought the rust fabric from me and as soon as she saw it she told me that she knew exactly what she wanted to do with it.

She also very kindly offered to loan me the finished work to display on my stand which I have recently done and to share it with you here on my blog.

Sue has added more surface design using a range of techniques including..

machine embroidery motif..Sue Warburton Now Is The Time machine embroidery made using rust fabric from t r a c y f o x

applique..

text…

I am always drawn to work that has text in it and what has been stitched really resonates with me..

If you look closely in each image, you will be able to see the subtle stenciling of cogs and numbers and of course free motion quilting.

Perhaps my favorite (there is so much to choose from) is the cheeky little key which reminds me of an old wardrobe that my Nanna had when I was a kid because it had a key just like this.

Huge thanks goes to Sue for loaning me her gorgeous work and agreeing to share it on my blog.

I will give it back…I promise!!
