During a much needed break last week, My Neil (Handsome Husband) and I had a few days out here and there.
One of the days was spent at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We didn’t know this place existed until it was suggested as somewhere I would like during a chance conversation with friends about my love of Barbara Hepworth’s work.
So off we went…
This is the metal path leading into the main visitors building where there is a lovely café and shop.
You can see in this close up that the pattern is created by names.
There are lots of ways you can get around the park but we came upon the HaHa Bridge first. I didn’t realize it was text as I approached it but then stepped more to the side so you could see the letters more clearly.
A bit of Henry Moore (with my reflection in!)
Molecule Man 1+1+1 1990
These are seriously huge. You can see My Neil (Handsome Husband) in the photo below just reaches the knee and he is 6ft 3inches tall. We both decided we really liked these.
Buddha by Niki de Saint Phalle
Aaahhhh, now we are talking, the fabulous Barbara Hepworth
The views created by her work are just as interesting to me as the work itself.
Magdalena Abakanowicz, Ten Seated Figures
A bit more from Henry Moore (pardon the pun), in amongst the sheep..
Iron Tree, Ai Weiwei
This is in the grounds of The Chapel..
..which has some gorgeous gates, inspiration for free motion quilting designs me thinks!
We then returned back to the visitors centre where we sat out on the balcony of the restaurant and had a lovely lunch.
We are usually not so fortunate with the weather but it was an absolutely gorgeous week.
If you would like to find out more, the website is http://www.ysp.co.uk
I would definitely recommend a visit.
Thank you for stopping by, it is much appreciated…
