I have just returned from a fab afternoon at Salford Quays with My Neil (Handsome Husband).
Here are the photos I took on our walk in
We decided to have a nosey around The Lowry and it was well worth the visit. If you haven’t been recently then I can recommend it.
This is the exhibition on at the moment
Even if you think it won’t be your thing, I would still recommend seeing it.
This installation is my favourite!
I took these photos from the back of the booth with the people in front of me becoming represented in the ‘snow’ on screen which is constantly moving and changing depending on what the audience is doing.
This is My Neil (Handsome Husband), I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS!!! Small things amuse…(I’ll let you finish that off).
I recorded a little video of what was actually happening but am having trouble getting it to show here so check back in a day or so and hopefully I will have worked out what I am doing wrong and will be able to share it with you.
So why was this my favourite?
Mmmmm, a few things really
it is really clever
it is interactive
but probably the main reason
it has such mood and atmosphere totally mesmerizing you with what is going happening on screen
And then of course to the man himself, LOWRY
I wasn’t allowed to take photos of the work but could snap away at the information displayed alongside it.
I really enjoyed the fact that there were lots of quotes from Lowry sprinkled amongst the exhibits and it really does give insight into the artist as a person I think.
There were 2 paintings in the ‘Faces and Figures’ section of the exhibit that I really liked, this was the information about the first. It was a really striking portrait.
This is the second one
I learnt something which surprised me today about Lowry.
Did you know he painted the sea?
Yep, he did and yes you guessed it, I can’t show you any photos but this is the room I lingered in the most. I was intrigued about his approach to painting it and completely drawn into the work.
And his last word, can’t argue with this…
I know it might be a bit daft posting the info without the paintings but I thought you could seek these out on your visit and then tell me what you think!
There was some fabulous sky on offer on the walk back which given my sky obsession just had to be snapped.
And of course my everlasting obsession with stark silhouettes against the sky
We don’t live far from The Quays and all it has to offer and I am ashamed to say we never go there but it has been placed on my (currently mental soon to be written down)
‘What To Do
Do you make New Year Resolutions? If you do, I would love to know if you achieve them?
We have promised ourselves that our next visit will include a nosey around here
On that note,
I would like to wish you
A Very Happy New Years Eve
whatever you are doing
I have a cough that would wake the dead so won’t be gallivanting about tonight, fabulous meal, a smattering of fizz, watch the fireworks on tele and of course Jools Holland to start off 2016.
How exciting am I!!!!!
Thank you for stopping by, it is much appreciated…
