A piece of gorgeousness!

Image

I always love to see what others make using my fabric and was chuffed to bits when Barbara Thompson shared this piece at North Manchester Area Day on Saturday!

Isn’t it gorgeous?

My 2017 CQ Journal Quilts

Image

From the begining I had the idea that all 12 individual 11″ squares needed to hang together to create a larger piece of work.

This is the layout I planned on before I started to make them starting with January in the top left corner.
So, which one do you like the most and why?

CQ Elements Challenge at Event City

Thought I’d share the photos I took of some of the inspiring work on display at Event City on Friday this week.  Hopefully it will brighten up a very dreary Sunday.

My Journal Quilts 2017 so far

Image

I have been a ‘lurker’ in the Quilters’ Guild Contemporary Group for quite a while and this year decided to join in with the Journal Quilts challenge.  Each quilt has to be 11″ square but you could choose your own theme and design.

I chose the Theme of ‘Colour’.

I wanted to use similar techniques but different colours, playing with the position of the square and starting point of the spiral.  The intention is that the set of 12 will hang together as a whole piece so the placement of the colours, square and quilting were part of the design.

Techniques: hand dyeing, fusible appliqué, spiral quilting

Here are mine so far…
